Summer Camp 2025: "Alasitas: Dreams in Miniature"
Welcome to 2025 Summer Camp in Washington, D.C.!
This summer, Isabella & Ferdinand® Academia de Español™ invites you to a unique immersive experience in language and culture with the fascinating theme of Alasitas, the Bolivian festival that celebrates dreams and aspirations through the creation of miniatures. In our camp, your children will not only learn Spanish but will also explore their own goals and dreams while creating miniature worlds and enjoying recreational activities such as music, sports, and art.
In this year's camp, children will learn all about Machu Picchu and the wonders of the Andes Mountains. Through hands-on activities, they’ll bring these iconic landmarks to life by creating detailed miniature models, all while immersing themselves in Spanish language and culture!
What is the Alasitas festival?
Alasitas is a traditional Bolivian festival that celebrates abundance and dreams in miniature. Participants create small versions of their biggest wishes, like houses, food, and other objects, with the belief that these small symbols will bring them prosperity in the future. Through this tradition, children will learn about the cultural value of dreaming big and being creative, all while practicing Spanish in a fun way.
Campers will engage in crafts, sports activities, culinary experiences, nature exploration, and cultural festivities, ensuring a dynamic and enriching summer camp.
The activities are designed to be fun, educational, and interactive, catering to various interests and age groups within the 5 to 13-year-old range.
Daily language classes embedded with cultural nuances, taught by native speakers and qualified instructors accredited by the Instituto Cervantes en Madrid.
This camp will take place in person.
Small class sizes and a 1:7 teacher-student ratio help us create a customized experience for both bilingual and non-bilingual children.
