“País Invitado” Project

A Journey Through Language, Culture, and Art

Support the preservation of ancestral art and Spanish language learning!

Since it's not always easy to take children to each country, the País Invitado Project brings the richness of Latin American cultures directly to them. With each edition, we invite artisans and cultural ambassadors to share their traditions, language, and arts. Starting with Bolivia, this ongoing initiative will continue to feature new countries, offering students and families an immersive cultural experience right here in Washington, D.C.

Isabella & Ferdinand® Academia de Español™ presents a unique cultural immersion experience to learn Spanish while exploring Bolivia’s rich heritage, guided by the artisanal weavers of Casa Étnica.

Cultural Immersion at Your Doorstep:

About the 'País Invitado' Project

The "País Invitado" project by Isabella & Ferdinand® Academia de Español™ is an ongoing initiative that brings the cultural and artistic traditions of Spanish-speaking countries to our community. This immersive experience allows students and their families to learn Spanish while engaging with the heritage, traditions, and art of different cultures.

We are thrilled to launch our first edition with Bolivia, focusing on the ancestral art of textile weaving with the guidance of talented artisan Martha Ojeda Apanqui de Fuentes, representing Casa Etnica.

Why We Need Your Help
To make this experience a reality, we need your support to cover the travel expenses of the artisans from Bolivia to Washington, D.C. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to bring these talented women to our community, where they will conduct workshops, cultural presentations, and offer handmade artisan products for sale.

Project Objectives

Casa Etnica: A Cultural Initiative

Casa Etnica, founded by Fabia, is a project dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich traditions of handmade products by indigenous communities from Bolivia and Peru. Martha Ojeda Apanqui de Fuentes, our invited artisan, is a master weaver skilled in the art of creating traditional Aguayos. Through this collaboration, we aim to bring her knowledge and craftsmanship to Washington, D.C., allowing our students and families to learn directly from her.

One of Fabia's key initiatives, the Aguayos project, will be featured at our events in Washington, D.C. This project focuses on the traditional weaving techniques used to create aguayos, colorful textiles that hold cultural significance in Andean communities. The artisans from Casa Etnica will bring these beautiful pieces to share their artistry and stories, fostering a deeper understanding of their heritage.

Discover the Art of Aguayos

Aguayos are traditional woven textiles that are integral to Andean culture. These colorful and versatile pieces carry the heritage, identity, and history of indigenous communities in their intricate patterns and designs.

Each Aguayo tells a story through its colors and symbols, connecting generations through the art of weaving.
